Raised in a suburb of Atlanta, GA, Rae Antonoff left the South for college at the University of Maryland - College Park, where she completed degrees in Jewish Studies & LGBT Studies. After 5 years in the DC area, Rae moved to Israel and then Los Angeles to earn her Masters in Jewish Education (MAJE) at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, where her research focused on Jewish art education and applying the principles of Accessible Design to Hebrew curriculum design.

Rae began experimenting with micrography in 2011, originally while trying to think up an art lesson for a class... but she found the art form so meditative and meaningful that she kept microscribing more Jewish texts to unwind, to get past writer's block, to create meaningful gifts, and even to manage the pain caused by her disabilities. Rae's portfolio now includes over 100 different micrography designs between art prints, greeting cards, ketubah art, and more.

In addition to her art, Rae currently works as the Director of Education at Beth Chayim Chadashim, teaches at 3 other Hebrew schools, and leads artist-in-residence programs, professional development and art workshops, retreats/shabbaton programs, and curriculum development projects throughout the year at synagogues in Southern California and all over the US.

 

She recently founded JLearnHub to support Jewish educators buy & sell their resource creations. She is thrilled to partner with ShalomLearning, MyPersonalJudaism, and Jewish Learning Matters as well to develop and support digital resources available to Jewish educators.
